People get confused with weather patterns generally going west to easy,
but winds are circular.

A friend who rode it from west to east was so mind-numbingly bored out of his skull, that he started yelling "Boring! Boring!" etc, at the horizon. Suppose it broke up the sheer monotony of the trip into Ceduna.

Yes, a friend of mine did the big tour waaay back in 1980, right around
Aussie. He had lots of comment s from people about riding the Nullarbor
along the lines of "wasn't it just so boring?". His reply "you've got to be
kidding!" Said that he saw as much wildlife on the Nullarbor as he'd seen
anywhere else in Australia, and subtle changes in scenery too. The motorists
belting along at 110kmh saw none of this, or else just hit the wildlife.

I have a series of slides taken on the Port augusta to Alice Springs
work train in the late 1970 that show thge subtle changes as you go
along and get further north. Almost look like a time stop blooming desert.

Woops, the slides were taken on the way to spend some time bicycling in
NT. It turned out to be three months before the inevitable (at that
time) "come home, you have an interview". Stupid me caught the bus and
train home instead of riding the long way home.

I think we went May - July, which was lovely.
They said it became very sticky late in the year until the rains hit in
December

I am about 10 hours into a 13 hour trip north. The scenery changing
was interesting for about the first 7 hours.

Now I've got the laptop out[1] -- see the benefits of usenet vs
cyclingforums? You get to hear my inanities even when I am not
connected! Of course, you could all be saved if I can't find a
newserver when I get there.
