Bicycle friendly track world cup event?

The Track World Cup is on again in Sydney, at Dunc Grey velodrome. The

Check it out. Note anything strange? If you look at
http://www.trackworldcup.cycling.org.au/gettingthere/gettingthere.htm it
tells you how to get there by car, by bus, by train, but not by bike.
Why not?

The site also says that there is free parking for cars. In fact they
employ multiple security guards to direct cars and control car parking,
but there is no secure parking facilities for bicycles. It is not as if
organising secure bicycle parking is difficult or costly.

What sort of message is all this sending?

They don't expect that any cyclists will wish to spectate?

Anyway, if you can help change this situation the rest of the planet

Yes, I attended last year, there were very few bikes parked outside and I am not sure there was much secure bike parking offered - certainly not at / near the door.

If you want to get there by train - bike. Probably get off at Chester Hill (or Sefton) then it's a gradual climb up Hector Street (or Chester Hill Rd with a bit along the HWYY at the end) Or, if you want to throw in a few hills - try Yagoona Stn.

Gemma, they may be working on a solution, but I made these concrete
suggestions to them many months ago. I suggested that:

- they contact Bicycle NSW about managing secure bike parking (with the
secure parking at the end of Spring Cycle last year as an example of how
to manage it well)

- I told them about the Bankstown City Council bike map and how to find
it on the web site (Bankstown City is one of their sponsors)

- I offered to write the content for their web site, and told them I
have specific experience in organising bicycle-friendly events

- I alerted Bicycle NSW that there might be contact coming from Cycling
Australia on the issue

My suggestions were made initially by email and I followed up with a
phone call.

So yes I may be jumping to conclusions, just because they have done
nothing that I can directly observe doesn't necessarily mean that they
haven't secretly been preparing. But I just wish they'd share the
secret. If there is secure bicycle parking then we can stay a few
kilometers away and ride there each day. Otherwise I am forced to stay
close (few choices, probably already booked out) or drive there each day
(the least attractive option).

I remember going to the Clarence Cup or something similar there a few years
ago, rode all the way from Leichhardt with a few mates through Strathfield
Berala and Regents Park etc , and they let us park our bikes inside the
glass doors. Too late/tired to ride all the way home so jumped a train on
way home. It wouldnt hurt them to advertise a bike parking facility and
encourage ordinary cyclists to roll up. So good on you Patrick, keep at em.
I thought they had better relations with BNSW than that.

telephoned them again this afternoon. I spoke to a different person who
hadn't heard of my suggestions, so any way I said it all again and maybe
