    I'm afraid that wouldn't work very well. Did you know there is an
    inertial servo in your head which keeps your eyeballs pointed at the
    right spot even when your head moves? That is how you are able to keep
    all the visual details in place, even when walking, running, riding a
    bike on cobblestones. etc. Bill, since you ride a mountain bike, you may
    have had this experience: riding fast down a really rough trail, and
    suddenly the vibration exceeds the capacity of your eyeball servo. All
    at once the trail seems to start bouncing all over the place.
    Even when riding on a smooth road you have head movements that are
    cancelled out by eye movements--the camera wouldn't be able to do this.

    This could be compensated for with a small piece of thick polyethelene
    with a dark rectangle (lines) representing your camera's field of view
    applied to the surface of one of the lenses of a pair of glasses. This
    would tell your brain what the camera is seeing,

    In concept that is true but it would still not cancel out the vibration.
    I have made some really hairy descents that got my eyes out of sync, so
    I can imagine what a helmet top video would look like. My work in the
    industry has shown me that even with the tiny 3/4" gyros, you need about
    6" on a side absolute minimum for the anti vibration electronics. For my
    military projects the motors could only rock the x or y axis about 6
    degrees, but that covered the vibration of a helicopter. The problem was
    that these motors had to be super strong to stabilize the motor against
    vibration up to 1 kHz (our target). The magnets for these motors were
    little Neodymium/Iron/Cobalt ultra strong that could crush you fingers
    if you got between two magnets in love.
    Stability ain't cheap, nor easy.
