Bibs and Regular shorts?

The only difference at all, generally speaking, is the upper portion -- the bib straps. Provided you get the proper size, a bib offers the potential of an overall better fit than shorts alone. The whole shebang stays in place a bit better.

Of course, if good shorts stay in place just fine on you, the only real difference comes from knowing that you're dressing like the big shots.

I just feel that they stay up better, especially while mtn. biking. I find that shorts sometimes gets caught on the nose of the saddle and pulls down in the back a bit, I do not have this problem with bibs.

I am not a fan of bibs. I have a pair of insanely expensive Assos FI.13 or whatever they are called bibs. I've worn them 2x. I prefer plain old shorts. At least the Assos seems to pull on the front, um, package more than shorts. I think it might be a boxer vs. briefs thing, where bibs = briefs. :-)

Bibs for me... no pressure round your gut with drawstrings or elastics, so much more comfortable.

Bibs and no undies. The only way to ride in comfort.

Harder to pee when you're wearing bibs, especially if you've also got a T-shirt and jacket on - you have to undo a lot of stuff and slide one shoulder strap down and then hunch over kinda funny to get you package over the top. More of a concern on longer rides of course. This varies with style, some bibs come up higher in the front. I ride bibs *almost* exclusively though, way more comfortable.

Bibs are the only way to go. I used to think bibs were goofy and that those who wore them were just trying to "be like the pros". Until I tried them! Bibs are SO much more comfortable on long rides. If you've never tried them I'd recommend going for the bibs.

Package comes out the front door not the attic window. Slide the short leg up instead of trying to toss the little guy over the fence!!!! Even with that issue, they are far more comfortable. Can't recall the last time I wore regular shorts.

Bibs. Also, they don't make cheap quality bibs.

Cheap shorts are dime a dozen but if the company makes bibs they assume that they are only being bought by cyclists who actually ride with them and know the difference between what a good short feels like from a piece of junk.

I felt the risk was mitigated by his claim of only wearing them twice. Of course, who knows where he went with them.

You need to wear a catheter.

This thread is cracking me up. If you don't have the muscle to jerk down the front of the bib and put the package over it, you have issues. Pulling up the short leg is, well, suboptimal, IMHO.

As for selling my bibs, you are brave, but I suppose it's no different than the tons of used shorts/jersies that get sold on eBay. I'd love to take the cash, but I'll hang on to them for now. Maybe I'll grow fond of them with more use. Maybe I just need to add some material to the straps so they don't pull on the package so hard.

Nice thing about pulling up the short leg is that you can stay on the bike and pee without missing much pedal stroke. try it, not as weird as you'd think.

you could just pull up one of the legs of the shorts. Alot easier than undressing.
