After a 10-yr layoff and a previous ACL injury I've been running again on a limited basis. I'm pretty happy with my progress but both knees usually hurt for a day or two after a run where I increase mileage or pace.
What can I do to minimize pain, inflammation or damage to the knees? I'm currently taking glucosamine/chondroitin and, after a run, ibuprofen.

Stop spending so much time on your knees sucking [censored], and they'll heal right up.

What, if any, exercises are you doing to keep your knee structure strong?

Try reading _Chi Running_, he has a section on knee pain, and the book is geared toward reducing running pain in general. If your shins and knee ligaments are sore, it could be as simple as relaxing your shin muscles by not lifting your toes while running.

And let me add: "Take my advice; I'm not using it."

Mainly leg presses, curls, extensions and goblet squats. Also train on indoor rower, versaclimber and elliptical machines. Other suggestions?
