  1. Hi, can anyone give me some advice as to what good salad dressing to use ,
as with summer here it seems that I have one for lunch and supper , don't
want to over do it with the carb count .
I am on 22-24 carbs a day as I find this plenty till I get down to goal.

    Atkins:May 5th 0/4 187-176-goal 145
    Thanks

  2. I ADORE the Walden farms 'carb free' stuff. Count it as having .45 grams of
    carbs per serving though. :-)

Creamy Bacon is to DIE FOR.

    Peace,
    Pen

It really depends on your personal taste. Some people like oil and
vinegar, which I personally can't stand. I like Hidden Valley Ranch, 1g
carb per serving (two tablespoons). I usually use just one though, I don't
    like to drown my salad.

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

  4. Olive Oil and Vinegar

Also, I sometimes put mayonnaise on a salad.

Vinegar has carbs, but nobody drinks an entire cup of it.

Mayonaisse, thinned out a bit with cream so it coats/runs better. For
flavour, add your favorite herbs, garlic, real bacon bits, fresh pepper,
salt, etc and let sit in the fridge at least 24 hours. I make bigger
batches and store them for a week or so with no problems. One of my
favorties is to take a food processor and liquify a cucumber, then add dill
and some lemon juice, and then add it to mayo/cream. Goes great on baby
spinach leaves, and it also goes great on grilled salmon.

Lately I've been using, believe it or not, Bertoli's Alfredo Sauce. It's
absolutely to DIE for when having cooked shrimp in the salad! Otherwise I
usually use guacamole. Occasionally I'll have ranch dressing just for a change.

Try the CarbOptions ones, which in most supermarkets are with the
regular dressings. I like the ranch and the spicey sweet french the
    best.

You can also make your own from some red wine viegar, olive oil, some
dijon mustard, a little lemon juice, salt/pepper, and garlic.

My favorites are plain old mayonnaise or any of the Walden Farms
    dressings, especially "Thousand Island."

    All...zero-carb!

Just once, try and use only olive oil and salt.
    It is really tasty.
Sesam oil is quite good too.

Add salt just before lunch or it will "burn" the leaves.

I gave up 'vinaigrette' after I discovered how good it was with plain oil.

If you like a good Caesar dressing, Ken's Steak House Salad Dressing is the
BEST! It's not even a "low carb" product, just a wonderful tasting 0g
(which I count as .5) per 2 tbsp.

Paul Newman's Olive Oil and Vinegar dressing.

Also, Whole Foods Market sells a line of creamy dressings branded as
Cindy's Kitchen (refrigerated in the produce section), with flavors like
chipotle ranch and asiago peppercorn. The former (the only one I have on
hand right now) has 1g of carbs per 2 TBS.

  15. Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix Copy Cat Recipe
1 teaspoon carrot, grated and chopped, opt.
1 teaspoon red bell pepper, finely minced, opt.
    3/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
    1/8 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/8 teaspoon onion powder
    1-2 pkgs Splenda
    1/8 teaspoon pepper
    2 teaspoons dry pectin
    Pinch ground oregano

(Place the carrot and bell pepper on a baking pan in the oven set on 250
degrees F for 45 to 60 minutes, or until all of the small pieces are completely
    dry, but not browned.)

Combine the dried carrot and bell pepper with the other ingredients in a small
    bowl.

Mix can be stored in a sealed container indefinitely until needed.

When ready to use, pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into a cruet or jar. Add 3
tablespoons of water, then the dressing mix. Seal and shake vigorously. Add 1/2
cup of oil and shake until well-blended.

    Serves 8 to 10.

  16. I have to agree with some of the other posts...I've recently discovered that
making my own salad dressings is easy and better tasting. I'm an American
currently living in Holland, and I don't have the option of buying low- or
zero-carb dressings here (Holland is still riding the low-fat train).

It's really easy to take any recipe for dressing and substitute a little
Splenda if it calls for sugar. Currently, my favorite salad and dressing is
    Broccoli-Cauliflower salad from allrecipes.com:

using Mayo, Carb Options Ketchup, and Dill relish.

If you like Ken's Caesar and you're watching calories, the
Lite Caesar is good, too. It's got a bit more pepper in it.

I havent' seen anyone mention it yet, but for a treat try Marie's Blue
Cheese. Yes, lots of calories, but 0g (I count as 1g) of carbs.

I can't stand "cheap" blue cheese, but Marie's is great. Often I'll
buy real blue cheese and crumble some on top, and then only used a
little bit of dressing to make it creamier.

    Cheers,
