something with a LOT more memory. I hear all the flap about the ipod and
see the people dancing in their commercials, but realistically, can you run
wearing this or any other "hard drive" mp3 player?
This has been covered a zillion times. I bet a search of "mp3" would
get you most of the discussion threads. However, my impression from
many of the discussions is that some people find the iPod fine for
running, others say that it just doesn't do well when it has to load new
music into its memory cache every 20 minutes from the hard drive. Why
some people do fine and others don't is beyond me.
I like my Rio Cali. Sports design, water resistant, FM radio as well as
mp3 player, stopwatch for people who care how fast they're running. Has
an expansion slot for an SD memory card, so you can pop a 512 mb or 1 gb
card in and load hundreds of songs for 15, 20, 30 hours of music. For
more capacity than that, you need a hard drive player. Read the posts
to get the feel for the conflicting opinions about hard drive players
and running.

what's on the horizon either, so are there any models coming out this year
that should make me wait?
In my opinion, never wait for the new model. There's always something
bigger, newer, flashier on the horizon. You might never stop waiting.
If you want music to run with, buy now, not in the future. In fact, I
kinda go the opposite direction. I don't try to buy what's imminent in
the future, I try to buy what has recently slipped into the past. Last
year's model of anything (bicycle, laptop, digital camera, etc.) is
always a heck of a lot cheaper and usually just as functional as
whatever you can buy from this year's line. Hmmmm, let's see. Bought
my Toyota Camry a few years used, bought my Apple iBook used one season
old, bought the lower-spec Rio Cali 128, bought a refurb Tungsten T3,
bought a refurb Dell subnotebook for an absurd amount off (my buddy
bought his 2 months earlier at $3300, I bought mine for $1100), bought
my Canon A40 and G2 digital cameras when the G3 and A50 and A60 were
already out, and so forth!
