Has there ever been a better bike racing comicbook than "CAT 3"?
Ken Benusis (of one of the Dakotas) made several of these wonderful
things in the early 90's. They captured all the wackiness, quirks,
lore-fetishism and forever-repeating stereotypes that is bike racing.
Some strips had titles like: "Who was that guy?" or "He came from
nowhere!" and the profiles of the members of The Club were hilarious.
The art production values were also totally cutting edge. I haven't
seen better even in regular comics. Benusis is still a dentist and
still races Masters in some crazed flatland club with a crazed name,
oh yeah: the Black Hills Domestiques.
I'm thinking of contacting him to see if he has backissues I could
help him sell.
Anyway, are there any good comics out there these days?
I mean good, ones that have gung-ho fans.
