Best bike?

Cannondale and Giant are both top quality brands. Performance? That's largely due to the engine powering the bike. [IMG]/img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif[/IMG]

Choose the one that feels right for fit after riding both. Then ride the hell out of it. I have Ultegra on my bike, but I'll bet you that I could make it go as fast if it had Sora. Work on the engine and don't worry as much about the chassis and transmission.

i would go with the cannondale, between the two there is a 700 dollar difference in its favor and im not sure that its worth on that Giant, sure you can later on upgrade the STI levers into Tiagra or 105 or even Ultegra, 9 speed is not too bad,

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Sora. It's now the same level as Tiagra was not too long ago. The 2013 version's shifters now work the same way as the more expensive STI levers in Shimano's line, so it's no problem to shift from the drops. The big difference between Sora and Tiagra? Sora has one fewer cog in the cassette.

Shimano is noted for "trickle-down" technology. They introduce changes in higher level groups, and it filters down to cheaper ones in a few years. They introduced electronic shifting to Dura Ace, and in a year or two it trickled down to Ultegra. Dura Ace goes to 11 speed two years ago, next year, Ultegra will go to 11 speed. In a few years, you'll probably see electronic shifting in 105.

someday you need to make a decision, today there is an overwhelming amount of posibilities on the new or the used market, i think that cannondale for 1K is a good offer,
