Im on vacation, (holiday for all you brits) about a week ago i had a spill which led to a bent rear derailleur (which had since been replaced) and a slightly bent crank. I did take the bike into a bike shop, they say the frame still looks good but ill need to replace the crank. I could have the bike shop take care of it but i would really rather do the work myself. I need to learn sooner or later right?
please remember that im very new to the bottom bracket thing but from what i can tell, Ive got a 09' CAAD9 with a FSA Vera triple, square taper, 20 tooth internal cup which would be a BB30 right?
now for the new crank, I would like to drop down to a double as i never use the small ring ive got. im willing to throw down a little cash, im looking at $250/€200 but i may go a little higher depending on the deal. What can u recommend? I've got a hold of a crank puller and a 20 tooth bottom bracket tool. other than normal mechanics tools is there anything else ill need?
