Bendix hub question

Could it be an old two-speed kickback hub with a broken transfer spring?

Both describe overhauling a Shimano coaster-brake hub, which is
slightly different from a Bendix hub, but not enough to matter. It's
not rocket science.

Only if somebody swapped brake arms - which is not trivial in this case!
The Bendix Automatics are 1959~64 as I recall, long gone by "86" at any
rate.
