Better yet, go the continuity beeper test setting on the meter. That
way it will actually work, given the sampling period of a DMM.
For mine, I noticed I could make it work by tugging on one section of
the cable. Cut that section out, splice, and bingo! (pity about the
damn thin fragile cables, really. Oh, and a real pain to separate the
two wires and actually get them stripped without breaking anything.
Then my numerous heatshrink stuffups. Put it on *before* soldering.
When the cable breaks next time, I might just go and replace the
entire cable with something a bit heavier duty, although I have no
idea how to solder it to the base of the BC1600.
