I might end up building a frame and hanging the bikes from that.

I use a similar bracket (not BBB branded) to hang my two bikes without any problems, I would imagine the forces applied to the wheels from day to day riding would be far greater than any force that would be applied by the hanging/suspension of the bicycle. The only problem I have found, and it's a minor problem, is the profile of my rim has worn through the plastic protective sleeve on the bracket to the point where the rim is resting on the metal of the bracket. This has caused minor cosmetic damage.
looks ok. i'd be wrapping more rubber round that 'head' thingy tho.
mate has a very easy DIY rig involving 2 parallel bits of wood (vertical and far enuff apart to accomodate tyre) at appropriate height on wall with a $5 Bunnings (mmmmm. bunnings. why did they close the cbd one? it was only 40m from my desk 🙄 ) hook in a similar possie to that BBB scenario. Now that i am 'Bandicoot' Dutch I 'might' get round to sorting the shed

Well, three methods of wall hanging that I know of.
1) hook from wall and bike looks like it is riding up wall. Unlikely to cause problem unless someone tarzans on bike frame .
2) shelf brackets that you pop top tube onto (just pad shelf bracket.
3) shelf brackets that support channel to hold wheels, basically lifts bike off floor.

If it is one of those colourbond sheds, look at a gal pipe across (resting on side walls) and hang bikes from that.

The bikes will not suffer from this way of storing them. The local DIY will have a cheaper version of this type of hook then BBB.

The bikes will not suffer from this way of storing them. The local DIY will have a cheaper version of this type of hook then BBB.

I was going to have the bikes hanging from the ceiling then the force on the rim is just due to the weight of the bicycle. However, if the hook is on the wall then the force is multiplied by a fulcrum effect (the factor is cosec(A) where A is the angle between the contact point of the hook and the axle) - I estimate this to be a factor of about 2. As you say, this shouldn't be a problem but I thought I'd find out if anyone else was using them.
I did look at the local DIY store and they only had the hinged hook variety of wall mounts which seemed to me difficult to get the bike in and out. The unhinged hook look like a "lift and move sideways" removal motion.
Now, if I can make better use of the space in the shedette, there should be room for another bike!

FWIW I found some plastic coated brackets at one of those elcheapo bargain stores for $5 each. This is the type that bolt to a wall and you put the top tube over them. When not in use they fold up out of the way. I've got 4 bolted to the support columns in the workshop. Great for storage and maintenance.

I didn't pay attention during math at skool, but...there are three bikes (two MTB's and a racer) hanging by their front wheel from the ceiling of my crowded shedette (must remember that word) for several years now. So from the point of experience...
