Basso is awesome

I hope Basso beats Cunego as well although I have to respectfully disagree with your viewpoint on Cunego/Simoni. Gibo is a pop off who deserved to lose the Giro last year.
However, I concur completely on your opnion of his haircut. What the hell happened to his hair? It's like he has a mini-mullet or something!

Dude, I dont know. You really need to look at his special in cycle sport magazine. He looks so.....disguisting lol. Weird freaking mullet, and he has a huge pot belly in one of the pictures. I mean HUGE

I don't know when the picture was taken, but I doubt your gut would look flat as a board after eating enough calories to race a stage of the Tour.

I *like* Cunego's hair cut. It's suits his age. Basso's cut is booooring. Same with a lot of pros. The buzz cut just doesn't have any ... panache.

In the alternative, if you want scary, check out Ulle in the 2004 Tour without his helmet on ... can't remember what mountain stage ... his hair must have popped up through the air vents and the rest got matted down. He looked freaky! Normally though, decent cut. No Cipo, but who is?

Okay, well. I've just spent five minutes analyzing cyclists' hair cuts. I think that 3rd beer was uncalled for. G'night.

C'mon, remember that Cunego is still a kid. Let him have his silly haircuts as long as he rides as well as he did last year (let's not forget the Lombardia!). 😎

I am looking forward to a 1-2 Cunego-Basso at the Giro (I do not mind who wins out of the two!) and a win at the tour for Basso! BTW, Cunego is also going to the Tour to 'learn'... but that was his objective at the last Giro... 😉

I would hope that he could mix things up with the big boys on a few of the major cols... 😄

Brochard's hair is so beyond bad, that it becomes good. Mullets rock. And they go perfectly with his wrist sweatbands a la Jimmy Connors 1983 tennis look. WTF?!?

Basso awsome? he's all right if you like riders who like to sit in and follow the wheels I suppose. At least Cunego likes to get out there and attack.

Fair enough, but given Armstrong's 'extraterristrial' TdF form, he appears to have been (with Kloden) the only one able to even hang on most of the time. That is a dog gone bit better than just about everyone else in the peloton (I know, I know, now you will bring up how Armstrong demolished him in the uphill TT)... 🙄

didn't even watch that TT - the 'race' was too dull for words by that point. If Basso is unexciting, Armstrong is the very epitome of boredom IMO

agreed Basso seemed to be one of the few riders capapble of holding then wheel but he seemed happy to do that and not bother to attack - I hope he blossoms like Beloki did in his last Tour into a rider who knows he can not only keep on the wheel but attack as well.

I must admit to chuckling at cunego's appearance in CS mag. The hair and weird throwback shirt/clothing you'd probably find at the local goodwill store. But he's a tremendous talent and I really enjoyed watching him embarrass gibo in the giro. He did everything right on and off the bike during the giro while simoni sulked and cried "you broke our pact!" As fate would have it, they're on the same team again and along with Basso's presence, it's gonna be one good giro to watch.
