Basso, best in the world this year....

Huh ? He attacked about 3-6 times per mountain stage at the Tour ? At one point putting 10 seconds into Armstrong....... what are you talking about ? Armstrong was to strong and respond each time..... but he still attacked.

...and no he is not riding the Vulva ! (spelling my friends, spelling !)

I don't know what cycling event you were watching, but Basso attacked on several occasions, the first being on Stage 8 when Armstrong was isolated from his team; also on the epic stage 15, when Basso attacked both Armstrong and Ullrich and only Lance could respond.

I don't have a problem if you want to consider Basso the best cyclist of the year on what he might have done if he hadn't gotten sick,or what he didn't manage to do in the TdF despite being in great physical condition . . . but IMO, your assessment is likely a year premature.

all I know is that if he rides in something called the "Vaula", he's likely to win it without any problems, as I'm unaware of any other cyclists entered in that event.

Fixey I agree with You. I watched IL GIRO D"Italia and if it wasn't that he got a flu bug he would have won very easily....and then, he went to Le Tour and finished second. An excellent performance, I'd say. 😄

Basso didn't attack haha

He didn't have the power or strength to put Lance into difficulty, you could see that Lance had time on everyone and all he needed to do was follow, what i would like to see was Lance just go for it on one stange and just show the world what he could do

Well, there was his effort in the TT in stage 20...

Well, there was his repeated attacks in the stage ultimately won by Valverde...

So in my book he went for it twice, or maybe three times, counting the stage 1 TT. He didn't have to otherwise, however, and so you are partially right in that it would have been cool to see him go for it once or twice more.

which would seem to me that he didn't really put in a big effort to destroy the field, if he went no one even Basso wouldnt been able to stay with him espically on stage 14

What?
Basso attacked,Vino attacked, Jan attacked. They made Lance work,but if you mean did they attack sucessfully. No, Lance has just got too much gas to be beaten down.
It was the right thing to try just not good enough, but they did attack.

I think Lance did show the world what he could do in the TT,but if you think he could have gained a lot more time on the mountain stages you need to go try them yourself and find out what hell it is.
Lance probably had a little more to give but I think not a lot. He was better than the rest but he is still human, an incredible human, but still human .

That Basso had stomach problems doesn't mean he wasn't in part accountable for his melt-down in the Giro. Many cyclists manage their health better than he did. I don't think finishing #2 in the TdF is particularly impressive. If he were the best, he would have finished #1. Also, his ITT again proved weaker than that of his main rivals.

Carmichael said, different from years past, that Lance does a good job hiding his pain and when he is on the limit. Carmichael said he felt that Lance didnt NEED to attack and drop Basso so he didnt. He added that if he needed to have done so that it would have taken a monumental effort, a tank draining effort, and one at age 33 you arent sure if you'll really pay for a day or two later and crack when isolated.... so he didnt.

Why does everyone use the term "degrade" when referring to [censored]? As if it were a bad thing.
