I have some apples that need to be used, so I want to make barbs rhubarb
cake with apples instead of rhubarb, especially since my husband tells me he
hates rhubarb.
I was just wondering, do you normally serve it hot or cold?

Jen , I like to serve it warm from the oven.

This isn't an answer to your question but it is a great way to eat apples.
This one came from a Granny up in Wisconsin that handed it down to a friend
of mine who gave it to me. The sauce that goes on it is really tasty!
Cheers!
Apple Cake Recipe
1 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
2 Cups Flour
1 ½ tsp Allspice
1 ½ tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
½ Cup Walnuts
4 Cups Green Apples
Combine sugar butter and eggs
Add spices
Add dry ingredients
Beat until smooth
Add apples and nuts
Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes
Sauce
½ cup butter
½ cup each white and brown sugar
1 ½ tsp vanilla
Cook until thick
Take off fire and whisk in ½ cup sour cream

That sounds good. I'll add that to my growing list of recipes to try.
Thanks.

My preference is room temp - but store it in the fridge. Apples, huh?
Make sure they're [censored]. And let us know how it works.

That's a good idea. I've got a half-bushel bag of Regent apples sitting
in the middle of the kitchen floor that I need to do something with.
They are almost [censored] enough; just need to sprinkle with bottled lemon
juice. Maybe mix a 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg into the cake
mix...
Best regards,
Bob
