    Banesto -> Illes Balears-Banesto ONCE-Eroski -> Stayer S.p.a. (Italian electrical firm)

    Personally, I will be looking forward to seeing the new jerseys.

    These websites preview what the jerseys might look like. Stayer will probably display a dark green,
    with the logo being a white horse's head in a guitar pick. Illes Balears ought to be more
    attractive, with that nice four-color logo. With those stunningly beautiful Mapei jerseys out of the
    peloton, perhaps Balears can pick up the slack.

    I found out about Stayer yesterday on Cyclingnews.com, where it received only a passing mention in a
    story about Pantani. Reprinted, I hope with Jeff Jones' blessing:

    Pantani thinks of his future Marco Pantani, who considers himself a retired cyclist, is still
    interested in the sport and is reportedly considering a new direction: team management. According to
    an article in La Repubblica, Pantani and his manager Manuela Ronchi have been in contact with Manolo
    Saiz to discuss the possibility of a management position with Saiz's new team for 2004, to be
    sponsored by Italian electrical company Stayer.

    "I always have my bike with me, but one can forget about the professional cyclist Pantani," the
    Italian said last weekend.
