It's amazing how much Lemond blames Hinault for his problems. If Lemond felt he was so much better after the 1985 tdf then he should have gone to another team.
In 1986 a few months before the TDF Lemond was asked who will lead La Vie Claire..?? Lemond replied whoever is strongest shall lead team. Hinault won the second TT and broke away on the first mountain stage.
A few years later Eddy Merckx was asked about the 1986 tdf....? Merckx replied: If Hinault was right to try and win if thought he could and he would have been wrong not too...
