Bad Free hub?

It will happen, paticularly with loose cog cassettes on an aluminum hub body. Ti bodies can be a bit soft too. Never had the problem with shimano or other steel bodies.

not uncommon with severe use. or riding with a loose locknut. congrats you must apply some power.
shimano 7800 freehub/cassettes have high profile/deep splines to beef this area up.

It's because the body is aluminum and shimano was smart enough to follow campys lead with a deeper pattern for more support. Outfits that supply aluminum hub bodies on 8/9 shimano hubs to shave a few grams are doing people a disservice.
