  1. There's a new ad on tv up in Canada for a national mensware chain -
Moores. It shows two besuited men walking along, while the voice-over
says one bought his suit at Moores, while the other paid twice as much
somewhere else. They get to a 'Don't Walk' light, and Mr. Not-Moores
steps off the curb regardless. BLAM! He's hit by a speeding bicyclist,
and there's tires and spandex and grey flannel bouncing everywhere!
(It's really quite a hit, at first viewing.)

Not the image I'd prefer for us, but at least the cyclist wasn't at
    fault. (And really fast.)

I would have assumed that the cyclist was someone in the IT trades.
The commercial is basically a microcondensed IT saga; the Suits vs the
Techies, in which the Suits are certain that they are omnipotent and
invulnerable, while the Techies question their own senses after having
received too many not merely illogical but actually impossible
directives alleged to have come from the Suits. After a while, the
Techies stop believing that the Suits exist, ignore the directives,
and actually get some work done...as long as the suits stay in their
    Olympian abodes.

  3. Are you sure that was a "real" Moore's advert?

Sounds like something the "Royal Canadian Air Farce" comedy show would do.

I saw a commercial in the US recently that had a bike ride down a mountain
w/o a light at dusk. The car then stayed behind the cyclist all the way into
the city and lit the way.
I can't remember if it was advertising the car light, the car or if it was
an awareness campaign from a bike advocate group?

The car. It was a Volkswagen ad, if I recall.

The bike actually had a light, but then his battery died, and the car
illuminated his ride down the mountain. Apparently VW would have us
believe that only magnanimous types drive their vehicles.

When I read the header, I thought, there's no such thing as a bad bicycle
ad, it's great that people are selling bicycles! But this, of course, is
another item in the file of the denigration of cyclists. Come the night of
the long gas lines, and everyone will be singing a different tune 😉

Contrary to this message, I was riding down Lexington Avenue in Manhattan
yesterday and a guy in a _great_ suit (better than mine) and a _great_
haircut and a really expensive looking suit-guy backpack on a pretty nice
bike was sharing a pace with me. When we seperated, I said, you're perfect
dude, America needs more guys in suits riding bikes.

Oh. I only saw it once and I don't pay much attention to ads usually. Of
course now it's time again to say how much I like my Schmidt SON hub
generator light. And the battery never dies 🙂

It worked for Honda in the 60's! "You meet the nicest people on a
Honda" Anybody remember those ads, a frat guy and sorority gal on a
    lil Honda 50 ?

Ach! You've started a tape in my head! I didn't even know I remembered
    it...
    Go little Honda
    Go little Honda
You meet the nicest people on a Honda

I thought it was a Honda 90 but I could be mistaken, as I remember the ad
mostly from radio. Go little Honda/Go little Honda...Go little Honda/Go
    little Honda. Coda:
