Yes! It seems to be more sensitive than a derailer system. After a week or two is stabilised.
It is possible to unhook the gear cable from the hub. You select 1st gear, shove a 2mm allen key in the hole, rotate it around the hub to loosen the cable, then unhook the cable through the slot on the chainstay, let it rotate back, then unclip the nut on the end cable from the hub.
You can do it keeping your fingers relatively clean, but not as clean as with a derailer system (where you don't need to touch greasy things at all).
bought at Ivanhoe Cycles. not my usual LBS, but was driven mainly cos the dang CRX city's are gettin rather rare. I would recommend the shop tho. cheery crew. good service and no bollox advice and good price (altho was a liberating feeling just listing/adding what i wanted and only asking wat the price was at the end. The platforms must be sumfin that the eggbeaters come with on bikes that are supplied with em? I asked to swap the factory-supplied spd platforms ofr eggbeaters and she reached into a draw with a few pairs of Candy's with these contraptions on em
Today, after maiden commute have tweaked seat possie (moved back) dropped stem/swapped spacer and cut down bar width by approx 4cm on both sides. Felt like the friggin spruce goose beforehand!
The grip shifter is gonna take some gettin used to. kinda strange given how much motobike ridin i used to do. go figure...
Observations. compared to the slicked up mtb, it's comfy. It handles bumps etc smoother (combo of 28m mtyres and bigger wheels i presume?) It's quick! The gear shifting is spookily smooth. kinda throws me as i keep lookin down to see if it's shifted. doooh! 🙄 For an off the rack job it's pretty darn good.
Do you other peoplez with a nexus hub carry spanner etc for wheel removal? it don't have a QR on the back. Is that an option?

Cheap girlfriends do exist. Let me rephrase that in case my wife reads this :-) You can find girlfriends who do not spend lots of your money.

Heh...that used to be the last hill on my commute. I don't miss it much. At least it's nice and short.
SPOTTED!!!! One crazy FlyingDutch riding down High St this morning with a huge grin yelling "NEW BIKE NEW BIKE!!!"... now I'm not sure if he was yelling this because he saw me, or this is what he randomly screams while riding this new monster.
spotted again tonight at the Kew crits.. though, most things off the track were a blur.. avge 40.6km/h in A grade.. with a hairpin and hill, this makes for a hard nights work!
