  1. Hi Everyone. I'm back again. It's been a while.

I used to be known around here as Gypsy Girl; but I'm using my own
    name now.

I lost some weight a bunch of years ago...then plateaued. Then I hit
some major life changes...a 1500 mile move, the life threatening
accident of my significant other, and 3 years of disability of my own
    due to fibromyalgia.

During this time I gained about 50 lbs, bringing me to a new all-time
    high of 256 lbs.

In December my reheumatologist "mandated" me to Weight Watchers.
Against all my own misgivings, I went there. I paid a lot of money.
Over the course of 6 months, I lost 12 lbs. Not good enough for me.

So, a little over a week ago I starting lo-carbing again.

I've lost 4 lbs, have gotten the lo-carb energy boost. Having cut out
all grain products, the pain from the fibromyalgia has practically
    ceased.

And so, this is the long way of letting you all know that I'm
    back...and I'm staying.

Hi Harriet, welcome back! It's amazing how much better you feel on low-carb,
isn't it? THAT'S what keeps me on track (with an occasional slip).

    Isn't it amazing that a company offering a product/service that fails 97%
of the time can still be in business? Can you imaging if GM produced a
    product like that?

Glad you're back, Harriet. I've always heard that many fibro patients find
low-carbing really helpful. Is it the grains? Anyway, very good that it is
    working for you.

I don't know, I wish I did. I know that wheat in any form makes the
fibro flare up within 24 hours, and I can feel the pain setting in.
I've tested this over and over. I'm not as sensitive to other grains,
but they do affect my appetite and hypoglycemia (which is edging into
    pre-diabetic).

I just suggested that one of my clients (I'm a massage therapist) who
has fibro give up the grains and see if it helps her. I'm curious to
see what her results are (if she decides she can do it).

    Thanks for the welcome back.

I remember you too. We were going to try to get a NYC-LC meet
happening, and then I suddenly moved to Florida, so I never got to
meet you and Debbie Cusack, but I think you got together.

Interesting. Maybe some kind of sensitivity, perhaps combined with some kind
of haywire immune response. I know from personal experience that my immune
system operates better on a low-carb (pretty much grain-free, save the
occasional Wasa) diet, compared to a high carb/high grain diet. Well, it's
great that you're getting such good results. I've had a couple friends with
fibro over the years, and it is such a puzzling and nasty condition - also
one that half the world assumes doesn't exist, believing you're some kind of
    hypochondriac.

High carb junk food period, flares me up. So does too much sugar. I realized
this when I cheated back on the 4th of July, and had a flare up with the Fibro
also. Wheat. I don't eat any at all. I tryed a low carb wheat tortillia. It did
    havoc to me also.
