Is there a home test method for hba1c like you have to glucose?

Yes, at Walgreen's for example. It's called "A1Cnow" - $25. You can
get a lower price by going online. I used it and liked it, but will
use my doctor - why pay?

There isn't a simple home meter but there is a home A1c test called A1c Now. You can read about it
at metrika.commetrika.comOpen ↗ and it's available in the $25 range at various drugstores.--

one of those fairly soon and at least that way I can have some data for the doctor when I can afford
the visit.Quoted message said:

Keep the blood sugar low and you decrease the probability for developing complications in
the long run. However, there are two small trifles here.
The HbA1C is more or less a thing you measure. It is difficult to aim at one specific target as it
is sort of a mean value for the BG over the past 8 weeks. But if you keep your BG low, then your
HbA1C will be low. A consequence is that if you go for a low HbA1C, such as below 5, you may
experience more hypos than if your goal is around 6.This is not to encourage people to go for high HbA1Cs, but one should know the side effects of going
for a goal. I have always been given the advice that an HbA1C below 5 causes too many hypos, that it
is not worth it. 6 is a more convenient goal and still good enough. But of course, 5 is probably
better than 6 when it comes to complications.I have been diabetic for 25 years, and my HbA1C has been in the 6-7 range most of the time, with
some periods at higher values, and I am one of those with no complications at all.But of course, this is just statistics. You may be below 6 all the time with complications after
some years and above 7 with no complications. YMMW.--
Have a nice day Bjørn B. Larsen -
Bjorn,
Congrats on no complications! Good point about hypos. I don't get any, and am trying to get below 5
solely with diet and exercise. I get 2 plus hrs of exercise daily, and I eat no refined carbs and
very little saturated fat. I'm eating 6 400 calories meals daily. For me, it's tough to budge Hba1c
- maybe the cinnamon will help."Bjørn B. Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message
