  1. Last year, on March 1, I set myself a goal of losing 78 pounds, from
    208 to 130, in a year.

Today, six days late, I weighed in at 129 pounds, having been visited
by the whoosh fairy this week. I went from 132 to 129 in one week,
    after a four-week mini-stall.

I'm planning on probably coming up with a new goal (another five to
ten pounds) after I see the doctor later this week, but I'm VERY
    pleased.

    Now to keep it off!

    Started 3/1/04
    208/129/130

P.S. Yes, I plan to have pictures up soon, but the guy who's supposed
to scan in the initial picture hasn't managed to get his act together
    yet.

It would be interesting to see how much you ate as you went along in your
weightloss efforts, and to see if you exercised.

You hit goal! Yay! Here's a happy dance just for you:

    Shimmy...bunny hop...high step...wave...pirouette...lead 76 trombones
    in the big parade...wiggle fingers...Egyptian wavy thingy...jump...
    pirouette...trip over the light fantastic...bunny hop...daintily
    collapse into heap on floor...

    Myra

  9. I doubt very much that you daintily do anything, at your weight.

I've been good about keeping track of my food and exercise for almost
nine months, IIRC. I've been mostly keeping to 1300 calories a day.

I exercise six days a week -- three days of running, three days of
elliptical. I'd really like to add some weight training in, if I can
find the time without cutting out the aerobic exercise.

Is there anything specific that you're training for? Otherwise that much
cardio seems a bit like overkill. Wieghtbearing exercise is also really
    good for you.

I'm trying to train to get my running speed up to something decent,
and run a 10K race. Eventually I'd like to run a half-marathon, but
    that's a long-term goal. Currently I can run three miles in 30
minutes, or five miles in 55 minutes -- I'd really love to be able to
do an eight-minute mile or less.

I've shied away from weight training partly because I don't really
know where to get started. I know about stumptious.com, but it's a
bit intimidating. I probably ought to work with a trainer for a few
    sessions.

Start with bodyweight exercises such as pushups and pullups. That should
keep you busy for a few years.
