Yes thats right
This morning on my commute I was punched by some old guy as we passed.
I was travelling (west) on the eastern freeway bike path just east of Blackburn Rd. I approached a couple on foot (traveling east) out for their morning stroll accompanied by a huge dumb ass brown labrador. Naturally I eased up a bit as the dog was off lead. I wouldnt have been doing more than 20km hour if that, but this guy starts screaming out "Slow down,Slow down .....blah blah blah".
With the dog who was walking in front of the couple safely passed. The couple keeping to their side of the shared path. And me starting up the gentle incline towards Blackburn Rd...........speed as far as I was concerned was not an issue.
I wasn't about to engage in conversation with this ranting, wildly gesticulating mad man. That is untill he took a swing at me as I rode past, connecting with my upper arm. I rode on initially............ I couldn't believe what had just happened. Riding back to engage the couple they/he were unremorsefull of their actions. I requested we swap names and address's as I intend to report this a...hole to plod, after all its assult. Funnily enough he wasn't keen on the idea.
It seems some peoples idea of cyclist allowed to use shared paths is fat [censored] desk jockeys weaving along, seat down, helmet askew and trailing a pumpkin headed kid on the Huffy tag-a-long.
I would be sure this couple are the parents of that guy who lives just off Heidleburg Rd.
Anyway what a nutter apparentlly you can just do that. Any cyclist who you think is going a bit quick........just punch them.
