I'm a recently diagnosed Type 2 diabetic and I have been emailed the website below with information
about Aspartame being not safe. Are there any alternatives that are just as good. I heard of sucrose
and froctose but dont really understand the afect they have on the BG levels

I can see I shouldn't have given you the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully someone lurking learnt
something.Go away.

Hey Abe! Wanna buy a bridge? *sheesh* Do you fall for every urban legend that goes around? This one
was started by one Nancy Markle, aka Betty Martini. She is as wacky as they get. And if you don't
know the difference between sucrose and fructose or how they affect BG, you're in some deep doo doo!--

The best alternative to Aspertame is Aspertame. It's about as dangerous as any other substance
you're like to eat or drink in the next 50 years, but if you fall into the trap of believing all the
[censored] that's posted about it, you'll never eat anything ever again.(Just check food labels and you'll see why I said that)

came out 25 years or so ago. -

And it is always wise to check your facts. When the first post a person makes is yet another troll

is dead right here. Now, if you'd like to start a new thread; saying something like "Hi, I'm Abe and
I was diagnosed T2 ....." with a little background, you may be surprised at the different response
you get. But if you want to depart now in a huff, you are going to miss out on some information that
may save your life, limbs or sight. Just be aware that this is an un-moderated group of individuals
who have no hesitation in calling a spade a bloody shovel. Welcome to the world of diabetes. I hope
to see you again in a different thread.Cheers Alan, T2, Oz. dx May 2002 , A1C 8.2=>5.8, wt 117kg=>90kg, no meds, diet and not enough

There is no need for all the concern about Aspartame or any other item. If you don't like it, do not
use it. No need for a big deal unless someone wants attention. I would not touch one diabetic drug
with a ten foot pole. Others do not feel that way So I should post 500 times warning people?. GuyBeaver said:

Allow me to narrate my own experiences.
I am a very strong user of Aspartame as a sweetener, never having quite lost my "sweet tooth". For
years I have been suffering from heart palpitations (called an "ectopic heartbeat"😉, until recently
it's been affecting my sleep and driving me to distraction. Trying to eliminate any external factor
as contributing to it, I thought of cutting out Aspartame. I first did a search for an association
of Aspartame with my hert beat. Unfortunately all I could find was stuff blaming Aspartame for every
conceivable ailment known - maybe even the last few wars as well. I soon realised that it would be
impossible to reach a reasoned conclusion without experimenting. Basically, I went off Aspartame
cold turkey - completely, drinking only water instead. Although after a few days I thought that my
heartbeat problem had moderated, after a couple of weeks I found it did not make one hell of
difference. My heart beat did it's own thing, whether I did or didn't use Aspartame...... Although
I'm certain there might be some unforunates who have some allergy to the stuff, in my case it made
no difference. It's a pity you cannot have a rational discussion on this without copping all sorts
of crackpots putting out insane viewpoints.Henry

It's like anything else Henry. The VAST majority will have no ill effects from Aspartame and the odd
one will. A pal of mine gets a headache if he drinks any diet drink containing it, so guess what?
Correct, he no longer drinks it. Job done and no foul. I can't believe peple who don't understand
that not everything suits everyone.I get a headache if I eat cheese, and if I don't get the headache before I go to bed, I have crappy
dreams. No cheese, no headache and no crappy dreams. Now maybe I should start a website explaining the lethality of cheese, starting with good old
Cheddar and working right through to very old sweaty sock.Beav
