Just a few weeks ago it was $2.99/lb and looking kind of poorly. Today at the grocery store it was $1.29/lb and looking great! So I got two bunches.
They also had white asparagus and I still don't understand the big deal about that. It was $3.29/lb so I decided it's not that big a *deal* after all. LOL
Christine Dabney should be in Memphis in about an hour. We're going to cook together. If she can get the Hi Speed internet connection to work from the Extended Stay Suite we'll be chatting and maybe posting while we wine and dine!
I'll be preparing chicken breast halves stuffed with fresh mozzarella, lightly breaded then browned in olive oil then simmered in (okay, it's from a jar!) Classico tomato sauce and topped with fresh grated Parmesan. We'll have asparagus to go with it. Should be a fun night!

Well the snow recided finally enough so I could get at and light up the grill without sitting in a mud puddle...First grilling of the season pork steak and asparagus...I did the asparagus my favorite way...drizzle them in oil and sprinkle well with salt, toss; then grill quick and hot (takes approx 4-6 mins to cook). The pork was just seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled as I'm trying to redefine what spices I use with pork...both the food and the grilling were great...nice to get outta the house into the warmer weather. Nice to go out in shirt sleeves approx 48F here.

What are you wearing?

LOL I'm pretty sure she won't care what I wear, Andy 😉 Just left a message at the front desk for her to call me when she arrives.
Ahem! [cough, cough]
Your SUPPOSED to say tight fitting jeans and t-shirt!

Sorry, I'm wearing leggins and a tank top! It's in the 70's here. She hasn't called yet... hope she didn't hit bad weather. It's thundering and about to pour down rain here, dammit.

She's wearing skin tight leggings and a knitted tank top. Want a pic? 😉
Jill is now cooking chicken parmesan stuffed with mozzarella, and breaded.. We are chilling the champagne... She won't let me do anything. I told her that she is being mean to me.... and she agreed.

Our asparagus is just starting to come up. Picked one yesterday. We get to pick for 2 weeks this year. -- Susan N.

Good on you. Best I've seen it yet here is $1.88 (from Mexico) and I've been buying it frequently at that price. Your chicken dish sounds good. Salad, too?
I don't like salad and Christine decided she didn't want any. Along with the chicken & asparagus we had lots of snacky cheeses and mini loaves of crusty sweet bread which somehow didn't even get opened. The wine and champagne most definitely got opened! 😄

I found asparagus at Wal Mart (cue evil empire music) for $.99 per pound. I'm saving it to make my Dad's soup for a couple of friends... :-)

I made the breaded chicken breasts stuffed with fresh mozz in a (gasp!) jarred tomato sauce and topped with freshly grated parmesan. Christine sauteed the asparagus in some olive oil. I was sorry I hadn't brought some garlic, I really thought about it but neglected to pick it up. Chris will tell you I don't eat a lot, especially not after I've been sipping wine and champagne. But I do hope she had a good time!
It's the first time I've ever tasted real English cheddar, too. Not the dyed orangish-yellow stuff they sell as cheddar from Wisconsin (is there a law about that?! not that there's anything wrong with it). It was tasty! We just got to talking, fooling around on the computer, laughing a lot. I cooked the one dish, she cooked the asparagus. I was simply going to steam it except there was no steamer basket. The wine (I'll admit) got away from me which is why I took a taxi home. So it goes! Or went, as the case may be.
