  1. Is there anybody experienced with the new ASICS Kinsei?

I would like to hear the opinion especially compare with
Kayano. I have been running with Kayanos for over 10 years.

Yes I have, I've humped 6 or 7 of them, and they are all a dead lay.

  4. You have to be aware that the Kinsei are a neutral cushioned shoe and your
Kayanos are a stability shoe, therefore they have a medial post of some kind
to guide your foot whereas the Kinsei does not. Just look at the instep of
your shoe, in the arch, and you'll see a different material than the rest of
    the sole.
Now that being said, the Kinsei is a really nice shoe with some neat
features. The gel provides a really cushy ride and the torsion bar gives a
nice transition from the impact to the toe off. However, whether it is
better than the ride of the Nimbus is up to the wearer's decision. Plus it's
    what, 70 bucks more?
If you are in the Kayanos and they are working for you with no knee or lower
leg problems, and no desire to go out and get an orthotic, then stick with
what works. If you want to go for the flash and you don't mind providing a
supplemental medial post of some kind, then by all means spend the dough.
You will enjoy them as they do incorporate all the best features that Asics
    has to offer.

    Just my 2 cents

I'm glad to see Asics trying to keep in the technology game with this
shoe and their R&D money. I always thought the Kayanos were overpriced
but if the shoe works for you, then it's correct. As for the $165 MSRP
for the Kinsei, well, choose the color that matchs your Hummer. Assuming
some of that new technology is really "good" then maybe some of the
features will work their way into the general line.

In addition, it's probably not a good time, economy wise, to come out
with shoe at the high end.

Good solid answer considering the rash of [censored] crashing R.R. I'll
bet there are a lot of parents that would disown their kids knowing they
stayed forever at age 5. Some species eat their young - maybe they have
a sixth sense we should investigate.

I have the Kinsei's and have had 5 pairs now. I am sort of between the
Kayanos and the Kinseis but now that I bike 2-3 days a week running 4 times
a week hasn't had the strain on my legs that motion control shoes seem to
help. I love the Kinseis and the easier ride they give and they wear very
well so no complaints at all.

I bet you haven't humped as many as I have. I usually like to walk down by

It's a dangerous game: I got caught not long ago.

    Dear Assperv,
Bill tells me you are this groups ass-man. Tonight while ytou are

One of the reasons I like the Asics 2120 is because it is a hybrid - it
has good cushioning and good stability. In some makes and models you
have to sacrifice one for the other.

    -Doug

  18. Hi guys,
Like Doug pointed out, the 2120 are a really good shoe with a medial post
and a lot of gel cushion throughout the heel and into the forefoot. They
work for a lot of runners, myself included.
One thing to keep in mind when you're choosing your shoe is the amount of
pronation that you do whilst running. If you have a medium arch and mild
pronation, then you could go either into the stability or cushioned shoe. If
you have a high, rigid arch and you under pronate, head straight into the
Kinsei or the Nimbus. Medium arch with normal pronation, go for the 2100
series or the Kayanos. Another trick to finding out your shoe type, not a
very scientific one but it helps, is to bend at the knees and see where they
go. If your knees go out, possibly a cushioned shoe is good cause you'll
tend to run on the outside or lateral part of your foot, an underpronator.
If your knees are straight or go in, the chances are you pronate somewhat
and your knees are compensating for the arch collapsing a little bit. Then
you would be best to go stability cause your foot lands on the lateral part
of the heel and rolls off the inside or medial part of the toe. The medial
post in the shoe helps to guide your foot strike a little bit. Check your
old shoes and see where they wear the most. Along the outside from heel to
toe would mean underpronate or from the outside heel to the inside toe means
normal or overpronate. Also, if you have flat feet and run on the inside of
your shoe, motion control is for you.
    Ok, that's just my $.04

Yup, you are an under-pronator aka supinator and a neutral-cushioned
shoe is classicly appropriate. Now you only have a few hundred choices.
