Well, apparently my dh (dear husband) may have left the unit
on and that's why it kept shutting off hence him thinking
for several days it does not work and then wanting to look
into the GPS. Long story short, he replaced the batteries
and it seems to be working and frankly, is pretty cool. I
tried it last night, worked great - what was really cool is
that I thought I was really slow but am not as slow as I
thought - just took a short run - very short but average
about a 10 minute mile which for this old lady is pretty
good. Anyway, does anyone make this type of thing with a
women's watch? The whole thing is cool but the watch is a
bit big for me - feels awkward. I thought the pod would feel
awkward but the watch was worse. - Linda

I've gotten used to
it. I'm pretty sure there is not one available for women. I
think it's a great gadget, and really nice when I'm in
unknown territory (i.e. on vacation) and want to do a
set distance, and have even used it to help figure out
that I went too far and missed a turnoff. I'll probably
get myself a great 45th birthday present and get the
Polar accelerometer when it comes out - my Nike Triax
is getting well used. Margaret -
Yea, I wondered that too - oh well, I figure if I keep trying to "race" the
darn thing - I'll probably improve. - Linda

The Pod does have a sleep function. If it's on for a certain
period of time without any movement happening... it will
shut itself off to save the battery.Dot dot.h@#att.net said:
Did you calibrate it on your shoe? or did it think it was
your dh? I don't know how much difference it makes.Could make a huge difference. I have the new Nike Triax
Elite which allows you to see and edit the calibration
offset. With one pair of shoes, the offset is 975 (97.5%)...
with another pair of shoes I have the offset is 1030
(103.0%). I love the fact the the offset is now editable
since it allows me to tweak the value if I notice it tending
to read long or short over known distances. Also... if you
are sharing the unit... each person could know their own
calibration offset and change it before going for a run.As for accuracy... once you get the offset right... it's
very accurate... plus you can see real time pace (more real
time than GPS) and never have to worry about signal loss. I
ran a certified marathon recently and although the watch
read long (I was pretty sure the offset was set too high)...
both halves of the marathon measured almost exactly the
same... the difference between the two 21.1K halfs was less
than 40 meters... which is pretty impressive over that long
a distance.Also... the Polar will probably have great software... but
as for what's out now... nothing beats the Nike as far as
the PC software goes. You can create, edit, save and upload
(to the watch) any kind of workout you could possibly dream
up... save collections of workouts as training plans... etc.
Plus of course it acts as a running log.--

When I had mine it made a significant differece just
switching shoes or even the position of the pod on the shoe.
It should be cal'd for each runner.Dot <dot.h@#att.net> wrote in message news:<Pjotc.76967$hH.1425173@bgtnsc04-
