  1. Wonder what kind word LA had for Cadel when the stage finished today as
Evans sits on and then sprints ahead near the line? <g>

Hopefully the same kind word he had for his team-mate George after he
used the same tactic to win the stage the other day 🙂

But seriously, it was clear Evans was barely hanging on up the hill and
couldn't have gone to the front. He's trying to get every second he can
right now - why should Lance begrudge him a few bonus seconds which are
meaningless to Lance but could potentially improve Evans' position in
    the GC?

I'd love to see Cadel equal Phil Anderson's best ever Aussie finish of
5th, but I doubt he can do it from here with TT looming.

    Cheers,
    Markko

    I'm thinking some Anglo-Saxon verbiage. ;-)

What? He didn't gain a nano-second doing that. All those guys got the same
time of 11:18. He is just listed on the stage results one place in front of
Lance. (I doubt there are bonus seconds for coming in 11th vs 12th.)

Well he ain't gonna do it with dumbass moves like that. I'll give him a bye
and suggest he was just oxygen-deprived.

Actually he did gain a nanosecond from doing it. And so did Lance. The
nanosecond was on the guys behind them, not on each other. Assuming he
passsed the line 0.1 seconds before Lance, then that's how much he gained on
the rest of the field compared to if Lance had been the one to cross the
line. Evans wasn't sprinting for finishing position (all the guys from the
break had come in before them), he was going for time on the others. If
Cadel was able to go faster than Lance at the end, then good on him. Shows
he's got some race smarts. I'm sure Ullrich wouldn't complain about gaining
a bit more time on Rasmussen.

  6. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"

    said Cadel in interviews.

"hey, i'm a cyclist and this was a sprint. I'm just giving it all. Sory
    Lance"

He (Cadel) should have said 'sprint or get dropped'.

Evans was interviewed by Belgian TV right after the line. Apparently
Armstrong said rather angrily: "What was that for?" Evans explained in his
typical high-pitched voice: "Well sorry Lance that's bike racing mate, if
I can gain some more time on the guys behind I'm not leaving it." (or very
similar words to that effect, this from memory).

    Every Second Counts 🙂

  10. He probably said,

    Dumbass-

You've got your head up your ass.

You gained nothing but a photo op by passing me.

We got the exact same time. No bonuses. And all you did was finish
    11th in a stage instead of 12th.

But in the meantime you made sure to offend the yellow jersey AND the
    best TdF rider ever.

    Good job MATE!

No kidding. I was wondering about that before I heard anything about
Lance's comments. From the video it looks like the 1st time Evans started
to pull out from 3rd in line and go, Ulrich said something to him and he
turned around and they had some animated words. He pulled back in and then
closer to the line he came out and sprinted anyway. I suspect Ulrich told
him something along the lines of "stay in line, dumbass". Armstrong was
clearly cooperating to help them, particularly Ulrich, take time on
Rasmussen by driving it home. Basso and Ulrich obviously knew the score and
were onboard, but Evans handled it like a new cat 4. It was pretty funny
seeing Armstrong look over at him at the finish. You could just see the
expression on his face... "WTF?" ;-)

  12. Ummmmmm.... NO. Not even close. Head may be up ass, but that's about
    it.

    1- Photo-op= press. Press=happy sponsors
2-Who cares if you got same time or not, I tried to get a second on my
    rivals. All that really matters.
3-But, pissing off the classless holder of the YJ, priceless..

In my mind the conversation went something nlike this.. "What! I am the
almighty Turd. You nipped me at the line! Who are you! My turd is
more dense than your turd. Listen to me. I am the turd damnit. Sure
I would have tried this move myself 4 years ago but that doesn't
matter. I am the Turd. TURD i say... Hello? anyone there?? Someone
listen to me.. I still have this pretty yellow shirt... guys?"

I seem to remember some people winning all 5 of the jersey's...And
having a great set of sideburns at the same time, as well as lots of
    class.

Say those French and Italian names fast enough and nobody can tell if you screw
up. That strategy falls apart on the keyboard, unfortunately.
