    Dear Sir/Madam

    1. Firstly, you refer to a reference number "at the top of this letter".
    There is none.

    2. Secondly, you refer to an "appointment", whereas in fact you refer to an
unspecified time during the course of the 2nd November 2005.

    3. Thirdly, I see no reason why you should want to see the inside of my
house for "Council Tax/Non-Domestic Rating purposes. My excessively high
council tax bills are public knowledge. Please explain why you need to
    make this visit

    4. Fourthly, you are not allowed to take photographs of the inside of my
    house.

Finally, if you reply to me on Monday the 31st October 2005, BY EMAIL,
giving me a brief explanation for the reason of the visit AND an
appointment, placed within a 2 hours window, I will be able to be at the
    house to allow access.

    Yours failthfully,

    Michael Krokos

Well well! I used to live round the corner from there, in Cosmeston
Street. Hello, and welcome. I don't think you really meant to send it
    here though...

That's hardly a 'cancel', it can stop it being archived by Google but
it's not gonna be removed from newservers which are holding it until
their expiry date is reached, and will keep serving the message to those
    downloading messages from this NG.

Search Google for "newsgroup cancel" (without quotes) and look at the
gory details. AIUI, it's not so easy to do these days, I believe fewer
servers support or act on cancel messages.

    Good luck.

    Justin.

Indeed many ignore cancels altogether. He also probably won't be able to
cancel the messages where people kindly quoted his entire faux pas :-(

So there really isn't much point...

.... which was precisely why I only quoted the road name and town.
Quoting the entire address and the whole letter really wasn't very
    friendly folks.
