Apollo Road Bikes - Your thoughts please

Hey thanks for the reply, yeah I'm in NZ so probably bit dearer here but I take what you saying is it ain't that good a deal?

Is this the type of bike and size you want?? If so, call the Apollo distributor in NZ and get a quote.

yeah I really don't know exactly, but I would like something light and the ability to upgrade /build on if necessary. I had a fitness bike for 1 month and absolutely loved the freedom it gave me from walking everywhere, I did a duathalon on it (was a heavy bike) but then it was stolen 🙁
So I got $300 in insurance 🙄 and now want to replace it with something. I'm very much into my fitness and woud like to do a triathalon this summer so want something that will be good to train on etc...

Have a look at Avanti and their SUB range of womens bikes, they are a NZ company: http://www.avantibikes.com/

Apollo Road may be a bit "low end", the bike seems to be aimed at the junior rider, 7 speed and low gearing. Have a look at Raceline in the same web page.

$300 will not buy much unless you go for a used bike. Do you have a local Triathlon club with a for sale forum? http://www.triwa.org.au/discus/index.html Bike size and fit is most important if you plan on competing.

Yeah george your right I do have to buy 2nd hand, that's where I seen the apollo trademe.co.nzListing.aspxOpen ↗ I didn't think it looked like a junior bike but then I don't know much about them either!

It seems to be still for sale, no offers, that says something. 🙄

Can you e_mail him to check the frame size and ask to see if it fits?

For about $40, you can change the 7 speed cassette on the rear to 11-28 or you local shop may have an old 12-25 7 speed cassette.

For $200 it looks OK, 😎 but the gearing is the limiting factor.

Oh that's really interesting - thanks will confirm the sizing but last ad said 5'4 - 5'6 approx.

and yeah she's relisted it, I think she was hoping for $500 for it previously, perhaps now shes more realistic now.
