tastes pretty good, even if it does LOOK unappetizing.
And you can turn the leftovers into a Reuben bowlwich(tm)*.
I can't believe there are so many people who've never had corned beef!
It, like pastrami, is Jewish soul food!
Myra
never had that either...or tounge. I live in NY and it has no appeal for me.
Never went to Katz's deli. Don't need 3 lbs of meat on a sandwich. But my
idea of a good sandwich is a whole loaf of good italian bread with
prosciutto, aged provolone and roasted red peppers. mmmm.
I may have tried pastrami - these 2 old jewish men I worked with couldn't
believe I never had it. They took me to the Blarney Stone for lunch and I
had some kind of plate of a pile of meat. Didn't impress me whatever it was
I had that day!
I never tried mustard till I was 25 either. some i like some i hate. I would
never put it on a sandwich though. (but I didn't eat sandwiches you would
put that on anyway!)
Never had a ruben either - sounds like a mess. I did like the corned beef
and cabbage last night(my husband said it tasted like hot dog meat - I think
it was a bit better than that)
Here's a link to Katz's if you are the one person who doesn't know the
place http://www.katzdeli.com/

*"Bowlwich" is a term my best friend, Ellen, coined. Basically, you
just take the ingredients for your favorite sandwich and mix them up
in a bowl. Her BLT bowlwich is particularly tasty.
