If you could get a tow off someone I reckon we could see a new downhill
speed record on BR's big downhill before Warrandyte. Of course you'd
also need a volunteer from the audience. 🙂

I remember back when I was a teenager in the '80s, my brother and his mates, who were all into BMX, modified their BMXs by flipping the bars over the front, removing the cranks, dropping the seat down all the way, and using freestyle pegs on the back axle as footpegs. They called these bikes "gravity bikes".

One of them owned a car, which they used toferry all the bikes to the top of Black Mountain in Canberra, then raced one another down. The police caught wind of it pretty quickly and threatened to throw the book at them if they caught them.

I was much too well behaved to get involved in anything like that, of course.

I don't think I'd have the guts to take on Black Mountain, Mt Ainslie might be alright though. There aren't as many dodgy corners and it flattens out before the T intersection at the bottom.
