on another note, i'm curious about what team. i first thought rabobank but i don't believe they've ever had jerseys that looked like that on the back. also looks like the back of a catlike helmet that i didn't think rabo used

Its the really small guy. I can't remember exactly because all of the Euskatel guys are indistinguishable to me. I think it is probably Unai Extebarria or Aitor Osa.

He'd have to be really small. Can you imagine how he'd feel going over a pot-hole if he was really big down there.:p

Actuzally, I thinkit is David Extearria. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. All of those guys are either named Osa, Extebarria, Aitor or Unai. It confuses me.

This image is from the 2001 or 2002 TDF, I believe. I'll check my dvds and let you know who it is...

not to answer my own question, but with everyone's help from above, i believe it is David Etxebarria from the 2002 tour. just thought i'd throw that out there in case anyone else was wondering

Clearly this guy is tripping on some good stuff. Who in their right mind would do something so stupid at what looks to be high speed?
Even if your bike handling skills are high class, how often do you see accidents happen in the pro peloton? Crazy

If I recall, the bunch was taking it exceptionally easy at the time. They weren't going very fast at all.

I think it was during the last stage of the Tour... when everybody jokes around before the Champs. Riders drink champagne, trade bikes, wear masks, play tricks on each other, ham it up for the TV cameras.

I actually used to do the "Superman" for fun on group rides and even the occasional race...until I was riding with some buddies and did it right before a very rough patch of road with a lake next to a rail. No I didn't go in the lake, but it took some serious skill to not go in!

I'm going to try practicing this on the trainer. I think it would make a good photo in next year's Seattle to Portland. But the photographers there usually plant themselves on a corner. Might be a little bit difficult turning.
