Yeah. I keyed on "FREE MONTH!!!" 🙂 Still, I don't see why he can't just
pick and choose a few days off between now and January 2. In fact, the days

    Really, it won't.

Maybe that will be the spike that kills a few extra beta

are the cookies that take you off into a month long binge.

It is not zealotry to notice a lot of people don't really

Yeah, many here have real problems with moderation......we do best (easier)
on the extremes...either way high carbs or way low carbs....moderation is
    hard!

    Oh. I see.

Your anecdotal evidence is better than my anecdotal evidence.

    That definitely clears things up.

Look.... the reality is, *most* people will probably do just fine

I wouldn't call what I'm doing "surrendering" but I think it is similar.
Starting with my Thanksgiving visit down south at my brother's house, I have
    not been as strict.
I am still trying to avoid sugar, and items with sugar/corn
syrup/hydrogentated oil as ingrediants. However, I had some white bread. I
also ate 1 homemade waffle w/ sugar-free syrup at a big breakfast party last
week. I've had regular pizza a couple of times. Let's see... I haven't
been counting my carbs, but for the most part I'm still eating the same
habits that I've developed this year. So I don't think I've surrendered,
but I am "taking it easy". It's been a tough year. I love my new way of
eating, though, and it's not going anywhere. I'll take food choices a
little more lax until New Year's Day (my 1 year low carb anniversary) and
then I am planning to go strict again, starting with 2 weeks of
    super-strict.
I've avoided all the cake, truffles, donuts, and tons of other goodies that
have been free, available, and surrounding me for weeks at work. I have not
given into that, because I have self-control now, which is something I did
not have a year ago. However, I am not going down that path. Sugar is
awful for me. The rush and the cravings... bad bad bad.

  19. I'm not having "too" much trouble this holiday season. I've managed to find
lower carb selections everywhere I've gone. I've stayed away from sugar since
when I eat it, 20 minutes later I get some sort of "crazy attack" from the
sugar rush. So far, my only downfall is eating a few too many "sugar free" (aka
sugar alcohol laden) snacks. I feel a little heavier (but clothing still fits
the same), but that's probably just water retention. I haven't given up the
rest of December, once the 26th rolls around, I'm back on my strict program (I
don't have any New Year's plans). I also plan on starting a weight
lifting/Pilates program to firm up from my weight loss (30 lbs with 10 to go).

Tonight (Xmas Eve) we're having home made lasagna with meatballs. I'll have a
small piece with a ball, and a large salad. SF Jello for dessert. Xmas day is
with the inlaws, I know there will be a cold cut plate, so for sure there will
be something for me to eat.

Happy Holidays to all here, I've learned a great deal in my 8 months on this
    NG.

    OH MY GOD STOP *WHINING*!

You can't go to a party and "starve". You can't eat before a party and go
for "6-8 hours" without eating (what the hell do you do at night?). It's
very hard to buy something that's low carb. Whine, moan, complain.

Look, you don't need excuses to cheat. If you're going to do it, just do
    it.

If you aren't going to cheat, it's magically a lot easier to find those
"very hard" things to buy. In any supermarket. Rotisserie chicken,
cheese and deli plates, quality soft cheese spreads, precut celery and
carrot sticks, pickles, smoked salmon, pre-cooked shrimp plates.

And don't bother whining back about how that stuff is too expensive, or
you don't like seafood, or whatever excuse you're about to come up with.
Just shut up, and either follow your WOE or don't.
