I like *Cycling Plus*. There is some racing content and some product
content, but a lot of the material is just about riding (routes, tours,
training, nutrition, etc.).

Cycling Plus from the U.K. is very much like "Bicycling!" in the
1970's, before evil Rodale Press neutered that wonderful magazine.

- focus on value for money, not dream bikes
- lots of technical reviews
- in-depth bike reviews with full specs including total bike weight
- good evals of components, rated 7-10, recommends best one(s) of group
- less bike tech than the old "Bicycling!" magazine
- better coverage on vintage bikes & yesteryear than old "Bicycling!"
- little racing coverage, focus is on touring / recreational riding.

The only problem is getting it locally. I get my copies at the local
Bookstar / Borders, but with the high UK pound and overseas delivery
it costs $9 an issue. Subscriptions are about L$50 which is about
$90/yr.

I have many issues of Bicycling from the early 80's. It was a great
magazine back then. They were not afraid to critisize bad products &
they gave real world advice. I will look for cycling plus ! Thanks!

that there are only 7 issues a year.

The best cycling publication around is the Rivendell Reader! The downside is
you're lucky to get 4 or maybe 5 issues per year. Still, great articles and
lots of logical, no nonsense stuff that all cyclist should read!

Yesterday I found an unopened bicycle magazine from October 96. It was Bicycle
Guide.

Gee, I miss that mag...

Cycletouring, the magazine of the UK's CTC. Except I think that may now be
called CYCLE touring and campaigning since the CTC are trying to play down
the touring references, but it's still good.
