Antiques in the Kitchen

I have a decorative cutting board up that was a gift from a friend who
lived in Russia for a while. I also have a few plates (non-antiques, but
one belonged to my grandmother-in-law) and a few framed posters.

I use every piece I've got except for a bread plate that belonged to my great
great grandmother. It's quite fragile and I'm afraid I'll break it.

for them on eBay. That would be bad.

Well now as long as you aren't collecting Depression glass or fiestaware
you should be ok. I buy surprising little in the way of antiques on
ebay even though I buy a lot of other things on ebay. I like seeing
what I'm buying when it comes to antiques. I love auction sales and
antique shops but what I really like are the second hand shops that
don't know the value of what they are selling. I just picked up some
really nice fiestaware that way.

Aside from a 19th century carving knife from my great-grandfather and a few
pots (that I still use), the only antique in the kitchen is me. The few
things I have replaced - in particular a pre-teflon waffle iron that was
perfectly seasoned - I still lament.

I have a feeling I will wear out long before the pots will.

I don't have many antiques in the kitchen but I do throughout the house.
If I have an antique sitting out, I expect it to be used. That goes for the
vases, chairs and ashtrays (ya' gotta smoke in the garage tho'🙂

I have a couple of antique cook books and my dining table was made between
1890 and 1910 so it'll soon be antique, but other than that I have lots of
50 to 70 year old collectibles I use regularly.

Let's don't go into my grandma's china 😉 I use a number of things that
could be considered 'antiques', from my cast iron griddle to some of the
cooking implements. They are used on a regular basis.

Hmm... Nice selection! I used to have one that I used as a planter.
Unfortunately, I left it outside in one Ohio winter and it cracked into
pieces.
