email within the next 7 days so today is the deadline. But that probably

Expect a chargeable upgrade. I believe that the Terms and Conditions of
their contract with the OS mandates this (they bent the rules at the
time of the last major upgrade by calling it a new "release" instead of
a new "version"😉. This will also mean replacing all your maps. However,
I also believe that Memory Map users have got around this with a bit of
a hack.

something but I forgot to read it.

Sorry to answer my own post - but this just arrived. . .

If you purchased any Anquet product on or after 10th October we will
replace at no additional cost other than a £5.00 handling and postage
charge.

If you purchased any Anquet product between 10th August and 9th October
we will replace any Anquet product for 25% of it's new retail value plus
a £5.00 handling and postage charge.

In both of the above cases, if you did not purchase from the Anquet shop
we will require proof of purchase.

All other Anquet users can exchange their existing products for the
equivalent v06 version at a cost of 50% off the new retail price plus
£3.00 postage and packing.

Costs have also reduced, so new version will cost less than half
original cost (and will have new version of maps with "right to roam" data).

I'm willing to bet that Anquet have abided by the OS licencing
restriction to prevent you using your old maps with the new software.

I think that's the case :-( But I don't want the new maps, I just want the

It may sound as though I'm being unnecessarily difficult here, but
this really irritated me, when I think how easy it is for pirates to
just steal software. Why mess the honest users around unnecessarily?

Anyway... is there anything in it for peeps who don't want to use it
on a mobile or a personal organiser? I read the bumph, but I wasn't
sure it was worth the upgrade for me. On theother hand, I do love new
kit... ;-)

The first is only partially correct. If you've done the full install
(and you obviously have), there's no need for the uninstall.

have thought so.

Categorisation is the main bit for me. The new path creation mechanism
sounds potentially useful, but I'd like to see it in action.

You only need the receipt if you bought the product since August 10th.

Right, but that being the case, I can't see the point in creating
flimsy barriers which will only prove a problem to the honest user.

It reminds me of some pretty expensive music software I've got -
Sibellius - which seems to operate on the same principle. Pirates
carry on regardless, whilst those of us who've paid exhorbitant (and
way over the odds, in comparison with US) fees to buy it have to turn
triple backwards somersaults to do simple things like install on more
than one PC. Rant rant... but I'm sure you see what I'm getting at 🙂

Well that seems entirely wrong to me, Theo.

I remember a very cumbersome registration process on the website. It's
a long time ago, but I'm sure it must have been necessary to enter
some sort of registration number from the CD. If you can prove that
you're the person that entered that info then I can't see why you
should also need to present the discs.

If you have a problem getting Anquet to accept that, and would like to
upgrade, please email me. I'd be more than happy to work together with
you to get you what you're entitled to.
