Anquet update v06.01

Often happens - there's quite a time delay between cutting the code and
getting it to market. It's very possible that there would be some
initial feedback in the interim.

One needs a sense of humour, I just downloaded the .exe version of the update file and ran it. It
fails to extract with the message 'Error 0 running comand .\Anquet Maps v06.msi'. Still, soldier on,
I extracted the msi file myself and ran that, which worked ok.

Most commercial software ships with bugs - both known and unknown.
The known bugs are deemed to be insufficiently important to fix now
and delay the software release.

If an important bug is found, a new release is cut which may well
incorporate other bug fixes which the developers had up their sleeves,
but didn't wish to ship in the first version because it would mean
rerunning part of the test cycle etc.

Should I install the new .exe file over the v06 prog, or uninstall the
v.06 then re-install with v06.01

file Anquet Maps v06.msi. When you run the exe file, it should extract the msi file and run it,
unfortunately it fails.

So I just right-clicked the exe file and selected 'Extract to...', it then pops up a dialog asking
where you want to put the extracted msi file. Then you can just run the msi file by double-clicking
it.

Why didn't they just give a link to the msi file?.

I've a vague idea what this means, and seeing as I just double left
clicked the .eve file and ran it - I still didn't see any difference. Is
there a difference ???

I'll go ans have a look at the procedure you recommend - thanks very
much. BTW To where did you extract the .msi file??

Any convenient directory, I chose the same directory the exe file was in. If you have any
difficulty, feel free to email me and I'll sort it. Looking at the weather, I'll be chained to the
keyboard all weekend.

Would that it fixed the plethora of problems with V06 - it doesnt seem to
fix any of the ones that I have? The V06 code seems pretty full of bugs
with mine crashing for various reasons after running for a while. I have
written to Anquet with a long list of problems - very disappointing as I
have been using the old software for ages. My current annoyance is the
inability to place waypoints where I get

"Error in ucPointsExplorer.Store_dbObject: Object Reference not set to an
instance of an Object"

Great stuff. A further clue to the quality of Anquets programmers came in
one error message which reads:

"An error occered in prosesing the Route Card base file...."

I also like the unique spelling in the user interface:
TOOLS>OPTIONS>APPEARENCE

This is not a quality product. Anyone thinking of purchasing should hold
off for a good six months or buy Memorymap IMHO.

I've seen things like that in error messages, but it's the first time I've seen it on a user
