thats some pretty cool stuff right there. I wish i was as good as some
of you guys are. I'm struggling remember the name of those downhill
unicycle peddles, that don't need any peddling? Can any body help? Are
they called D.C or something like that? B.C maybe?

It's called a B.C. wheel or impossible wheel. Now, please leave this
thread unjacked, there are plenty others on B.C. wheeling.

Andrew: I don't have any video, sorry. I only have a film camera and my
scanner is broken. I'm getting a Coolpix 5700 in early June (paycheck:D
), so when I get it, I'll update my gallery with a ton of videos and
pictures. What you did for risers was what I did, except I used my 2'
(61cm) boxes for risers, so it was a tiny bit higher.

As for the pedalgrab, it's not all that difficult. I imagine you could
land it. I just do a no-prehop up to pedal, and try to land between the
pins on my pedals, so it's an even surface. Then, I get up my courage
and balance, and just go right over, withought letting the tire touch
the 2x4. It was preperation for round poles and chain-link fences. Since
then, I've landed a pedalgrab over a 30" chain-link fence, and a 32"
highway protector thingy (the metal kind that hase a cross-section like
a "w". It was easier than the fence. The hardest was when I landed over
a 3" diameter pole about 26" off the ground. That time I had to go fast,
because I'd lose my balance or slide off.

The most helpful thing is the type of pedals you have. Try a set without
any center pins, like snafu's or Odyssey Jim Clechinki. I use snafus,
Ryan Atkins uses the odyssey. Sorry for being a hypocrate and jacking
the thread. I'll post pictures when I get the chance.

Don't you think it's a cruel irony that acting like a G.I. Joe in the

Thanks for the tips gerblefranklin (sorry, it sounds strange calling you
that but I don't know your name :)). Have you tried pedal grabbing and
going to rubber on top of the 2x4? That's what I thought you were
referring to before, this seems slightly more possible. I'll give it a
try soon enough but I think I'm still a fair way off being able to do
it. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos and videos in June.

Yes, muniracer, please post some pics.

I *can* get to rubber on the 2x4, but I don't particulary like to,
because my pedalgrabs aren't all that good in the first place. But then
again, you've now prompted me to get it down consistently, as now I'm
starting to think it's useful. It'd make an interesting line. Pedalgrab
up to a 2x4, and then gap to another and then to a sandwich board and
then to a box. Extremely difficult to stay in control all though. Or,
pedalgrab up to the 2x4, then a 2' drop in contect of a gap down to
another 2x4, and then immediately an 18incher up to a box. If I had the
other 2x4, I'd try it. Thr drop would be the hardest. I went to Wilder
Ranch in Santa Cruz, and rode a wet wood rail (the one in my gallery).
Then, I saw a picture of Kris riding the rail with the caption "an
interesting balance line: air onto the rail and then ride it". It's
around 33"! I'll probably be much better by June. 2 months ago I could
barely do 25", and I couldn't even pedalgrab. I can't imagine what
things'll be. Tomorrow I'm trying a line which is up to a prak bench,
and then a >28" pedalgrab onto a 4" round rail. It'll take practice, but
eventually I'll get it down and get it on video.

so here are a couple of lines i have tried with the bars:

13" hop onto the bar, then another 13" onto a wall. this helps improve
jumping height when jumping straight forward (i land the jumping bar at
a 90 degree angle).

gap from a skinny up 12" onto the bar, then gap off. this helps me do a
90 degree hop twist onto the bar.

im going to make another!

okay, i rode on these babies for 2-3 hours. it was good fun. first i
just lined three of them up and would increase the distance between them
as i got better. the farthest was 1m between each. then i turned them
sideways so that there were six little bars in a row (see picture above,
i would now hop on the bracing). my best was 4 in a row. i had trouble
because they were so small.

Very nice indeed, thanks for the pictures. Last night I was out rock
climbing and I found a great trials line that normally I wouldn't even
consider doing. I think practising on these things has really given me
more confidence and broadened my variety of trials lines. I didn't do
this one last night because I'd already been climbing, done some rail
riding and hopping around, and was planning to later on hop up a steep
and windy set of 107 high steps...plus it was dark and I don't like
pushing my limits in the dark.

The line involved a hop up a slanted metal surface (one of the big
lights for night climbing on the cliffs), then about a 1.2m long and
20cm high gap to a round metal railing running perpendicular to the
rider. The rialing is about 8cm in diameter from memory. I'm looking
forward to attempting it next time I'm there in daylight.

I'm going to keep practising on these gapping bars at home every now and
then. My goal is to be able to confidently land 270 degree hops up onto
the rails (landing parallel to them) and then to gap to the next one
doing another 270 degree turn in the air and landing backwards, then a
180 off. I also want to be able to land 2m gaps between them. I have a
lot of practise to do because I'm nowhere near reaching these goals!
:)

Hey Muniracer, that sounded awesome! Gapping to the bars and then up a
ledge is hard. I used my bar and a box to do the same thing. I had a 3'
gap/5" up to the bar, and then an 18" up to the box. I got it
consistent, but it's still really hard. Lots of fun, though. Were those
2x7's you used?!
