Claire Petersky said:Another dream with a bicycle theme -- looking for interpretations...
Bicycling along the coast on a beautiful paved trail. It's sunny and
warm, I'm singing, and both my voice and my legs feel strong.
Hang on, this is going to be quite a ride. 😉

The trail starts to peter out because we are getting close to the
US/Canada border. I can see the road through the trees -- the border
is heavily fortified at the road crossing. However, there is no one
here on the bicycle end of things -- it's just that the trail comes to
an end. The terrain is rugged, with steep slopes, basalt cliffs, and
sturdy trees.
Drawing from another poster, I too will sugest this border represents a
boundary between two spiritual realms, existences, or plains. These may be
levels of maturity in this life, or may be a passing from this life to the
next. The fact that there is no one there at the bicycle end of things
suggests that this is uncharted teritory for most or all people. Either the
guards don't expect anyone to try that route, or they know that no one will
be successful, or that there's no one to try to stop you. It is clear that
moving to the new realm or level is difficult, with obstacles, pitfalls,
difficulty, and danger. The way seems obscure, and you don't know what to
do next. The sturdy trees suggest that your strength will get you through,
or possibly, that there is strength and stability in this new spiritual
adventure.

At this point I am with a companion (identify unknown), and we use
ropes to climb the cliff where the trail stops. Our plan is to try to
cross the border through the forest, where we hope we can sneak
through without being discovered.
The companion is your "higher power" - one that you know exists, that you
know is an advocate on your behalf, but can't readily identify or perhaps
you are confused about the identity of your "higher power". The ropes
represent the use of spiritual tools - scriptures, writings, music, wise
council, etc. These things can be helpful, but like ropes, are something
you could get tangled in if you don't know how to make proper use of them.
The attempt to sneak across is an attempt to reach your goal by other than
legitemate means. Perhaps with less than a pure heart or pure motives. Or
perhaps it isn't to avoid the proper route, but to avoid the greastest
danger, those who would try to prevent you from succeeding.

We scramble to the top of the cliff, and almost inevitably, we are
caught. We are taken to a detention center. My captors invite me to
take a five hour nap on a bunk, which I decline -- I have a fear that
this would be a fatal mistake. Instead, I demand to see Ryan
Cousineau, an influential Canadian who I think would be sympathetic to
my cause.
Being caught is what suggests to me that you are trying to reach your goals
by less than legitemate means. Crossing the border normally would have
required an examination, perhaps one that you want to avoid because you have
something to hide. But by avoiding the examination, you are in more trouble
than you would have been in. You are still seeking help from your
companion, but without knowing the identity, you call on someone else who
seems to be appropriate. But because this is the wrong helper, confusion
and chaos result.
Quoted message said:In the confusion and chaos that this demand creates, my companion
attempts an escape, which is unsuccessful. He is taken away for
punishment. Further, three other prisoners will be punished as a
demonstration. Although they are supposedly randomly selected, I am
one of the ones chosen. I know I'm being selected because it will
further the emotional pain of my companion to know that I am suffering
on his account.
You are separated from your "higher power" because of this inappropriate
action on your part, and are separated from their help. The fact that
his/her punishment is also inflicted on others shows your fear of this whole
process of moving to a higher plain, that others may get hurt, and that it
may be unfair to you. Your thoughts are still on your companion, however,
and are distressed at his/her suffering on your behalf, even their being
made to suffer by your punishment.

With the other prisoners and my companion, I am taken to another room
for excution.
In order to achieve this new plain or spiritual realm, you have to die to
self. You feel this is being imposed upon you unfairly.
Quoted message said:I am prepped for lethal injection. I think to myself
that I should be frightened, but I am not. I mentally recite a prayer,
"Yiheyu l'ratzon imre-fi v'hegeyon libi l'faneka Adonai tzuri v'goali"
*
You want to be prepared for the transition. You want to know that your
words and your heart are right.
Quoted message said:and then pause, to see if words actually do come spontaneously out
of my mouth. However, there is nothing but silence.
This is a strong self-doubt about whether you measure up, and perhaps you
don't. You got this far by less than legitemate means, and now are
suffering for it. The words fail, they no longer do it for you, they are no
longer enough.
Quoted message said:They stick the needle in my
arm, and I can feel something cold flowing through my veins.
This is a throwback to cycling, and to a less than positive recation to
someone's inappropriate driving. The driver did something that made your
blood run cold, and perhaps that is the whole raeson you are having so much
difficulty moving to the next level.
Quoted message said:I think,
"I am going to die" -- and then wake up.
Since you are no longer cycling (in the dream), that is a fate as bad as
death. Get out and ride, and enjoy it, or the guards will _force_ you to
enjoy it. 😉
Quoted message said:* This is not the traditional prayer said before death, which is
supposed to be the Sh'ma. Rather, this is the one traditionally
translated as: "May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my
heart be acceptable unto Thee O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer"
Psalm 19:14 (KJV uses "strength" instead of "rock"😉
