during local races in the area, and refusing to comply with police
requests.
i think the urinating was just another nail in the coffin.
Its sad, but I'm not surprised this has happened, as there have been
frictions with the local police for a number of years.

Sometimes cyclists can be their own worst enemy :-(

impossible gap during this year's Tour.

It is a difficult issue. If you're struggling to stay with the pack, or
struggling to stay away from it, you can't easily duck behind a hedge
and wee. The pack is not going to wait for you.

ISTR the problems with the events referred to were that the riders relieved
themselves in the gardens of local residents prior to the racing starting

Didn't LeMond suffer from a case of the trots in one TdF but carried on
riding, leaving a "vapour trail"?

That's correct, or at least it has happened. Three years ago, I was the
cycling pundit that filled in "The Wright Stuff" by email about what they
do. I seem to remember from my quick research that the team car holds out a
towel in case of a "heavy load".
