anchor japanese frame

Not sure if it's the same as the track frame, but there was talk that their high end carbon frame in '05 was a dud. I test road it at a trade show, and it felt dead. When I asked about it at a local pro-shop (an Anchor dealer), they said that many felt the frame was poorly designed, and Anchor's own racing team had even criticized the ride; however, production had to proceed regardless because Bridgeston had already committed to some volume.

Anchor had a new carbon frame on display for '06. Perhaps it is better. Bridgestone is a big company, so I would expect them to have the resources to get it right soon. Their large color selection is pretty neat.

thanks for that, but i think you are probably commenting on the road frame?? It is the track frame i am interested in PHM9 high modulus carbon track frame. any opinions on this, would be greatly appreciated. I rode the world masters in manchester, england this year, and in two of the age groups a very good american sprinter rode an anchor track frame to a gold medal, and also a japanese rider gained a medal on this frame. they both gave good reports of this frame, but i would welcome any more comments from other track riders. thanks

Yes, I only tried the road frame. It sounds like you already have good info on the track frame, though. If it worked for those guys, it must not be too bad.

thanks very much, you can never have too many opinions and i will bear in mind your comments!

I know 2 riders here who use the track frame. So far, they both like it, however, it appears to be incredibly stiff, prob good for larger or power riders. The rider here who reported it as being a little too stiff is not a really big guy, so you might want to keep that in mind as well though.
