Heheheh, we went to one of the local BMX / Skateboard /
Roller Blade Park where my sons have been practising half-
pipe manouvres etc .. 11 year old is well pleased that he
can now jump the tabletop cleanly every time, and can drop
in cleanly and half rotate every time too ..

8 year old is even more pleased that he can get onto the table-
top ... 😉

Yesterday I took a train to Carlisle and cycled to Dentdale
YH, a distance of just under 60 miles. Theres some cracking
roads in that part of the North and not a great deal of
traffic. Today I cycled the 65 miles home. There were mainly
cyclists in the YH last night, I spent a pleasant evening in
the company of four from Bury, then today we all rode the 17
miles to Settle before elevenses then I headed east and they
continued south. Again not much traffic until the A65 and
some super scenary. Some big hills too of course but with
the low gears on my tourer (29"😉 they are not (much of) a
problem. No rain, no mechanicals, no crashes. A great mini
tour, some practice riding loaded, some new roads and
probably more miles than I'd have done if I stayed at home.
If I wasn't unemployed I would have gone to the Worlds in
Manchester on Friday or Saturday too.

<delurk> I 've been reading this forum for a while without
posting, but I'm just full of the joys of spring today so I
felt I just had to respond to this post. The last four weeks
have been one cold after another, none bad enough to have
time off work (boo, hiss!), but plenty bad enough to stop me
going out in the rain / cold (except for one dire day on
Purbeck plugging through the mud with some dire map-readers
- but that's another story!).

The last couple of days have seen me back out on my shiny
OCR2 (with triple, 'coz I'm bloatingly overweight and
underfit, and shiny 'coz fettling it in the garage has been
the closest I've got to riding it recently!), culminating in
a lovely 32km (in 77 minutes) this evening up to the top of
the Ridgeway, spending only 7 minutes above 90%HRmax (which
is great for me, considering it's uphill *all* the way), and
maxing at 62km/h on the way back
:-)

Looking forward to doing another potter tomorrow night now.

Definitely so. I came up with so many excuses to stop myself
going out yesterday, and it was heading the same way today
(I even read all about Mr N*tur*l, it was that bad ;-) ) but
by three o'clock I was fed up with staring at that lovely
blue sky out of the window so went for a walk to the shops
(saw a nice car crash en route, car turns right in the path
of a too- fast taxi, screech, crunch) and decided the
outdoors was the place to be. Veyr glad I did.

Same here. I was working until 3 o'clock but it was far too
nice out to not go for a ride. Tried a new route, making it
up as I went along, just following my nose and investigating
some previously uncharted country lanes. I was enjoying
myself so much that I just kept going and going... went
somewhat further than planned in the end - 67 miles, to be
exact. What was really pleasing was that I felt I could have
carried on for a good few miles more - except that by then
it was dark and getting a bit chilly. Next step is to find a
spare day to devote to doing a really long ride - the magic
100 mark is now firmly in my sights...
