Now I can understand that for what it is the price may be seductive -
compelling, even - but are you really suggesting that it's seductive per se?

I would have thought that something that's scarce, or costly, or unusually
and extremely well designed, with high standards of workmanship and which
looks the business, or probably some combination of these, is what makes
something seductive. Now the Argos tent might be the bargain of bargains,
but seductive? Really Ian, you should have more ambition!

I don't even think my new MacPac Olympus is seductive, though I am
particularly pleased with it. However, my new cold weather sleeping bag
hasn't been tested yet - it's got to wait until I go to the Tetons,
Yellowstone and hopefully Glacier National Park in September, when I hope it
will keep me toasty warm, make me reluctant to leave and eager to return.
And in the unlikely event of me needing to get out quickly, lets hope it
allows me to exeunt and not be pursued by a bear...

Hey Jim ! I've got a Hilleberg Nammtj 2 GT for sale at the moment. Inner
tent 220x130cm, height 95 cm. Porch is huge,185cm long. It weighs 3,3 kg,
made of ripstop nylon, color is red. Price: 150 BP. I'll be in Scotland in
September. Interested ?

It's a marvel of simple but effective design. It will achieve iconic

Thanks for the offer Theo, but if I go for another tent it'll probably be a
1.5 Kg one or lighter, possibly a Tera Nova Laserlite.

It would still be a great tent if it cost £100, or more. I paid £350
for a lightweight tent that's slighly heavier! (mind you, it is a tad
more roomy, ideal for those long winter nights)

But seriously, the Argos tent is a really good design. Dead easy to put
up quickly, good in wind, light, packs small.

Well now, odd you should say that. Purely by accident yesterday - I was
looking to see if a press notice had made any impression on the web, and one
of the easiest ways to find it was to use my name amongst the google search
words - I came across a fair number of old posts, though mostly to the uk
climbing newsgroup. One of these was archived by merkins as one of their
quotes of 2003, which was something of a surprise. And so, already
