A friend of mine uses a PC with a Freeview-enabled TV Card as a PVR. I was sceptical until one day, when he was showing off, he set it to record something by sending an email to it using his mobile. Smartarse.

You can buy the DVD from Amazon or Ebay for less than the cost of a trip to the cinema. Converting a DVD player to multi-region is usually simply a case of pressing the right buttons on the remote.

I like the Eddy scene too and I've had a few Eddys on my training routes. Nothing like a foaming dog for sprint training.

I was going to do that, but when I finally got round to trying out my DVB-T USB box, it couldn't find any channels. The freeview box reports a very good signal strength, so I think its busted. If I'd got round to plugging it in within 6 months of buying it, I'd be contacting the retailer.
Oh, and it makes much more sense to have something a bit smaller than a PC connected to it. I'd suggest a Linksys NSLU2 would have the speed to record to disk and forward over the network, and use less than 5W at idle. And have more geek points. -- Ambrose

I tried it with an arial from a portable tv and got a reasonable signal with some channels but when I tried it with the roof arial it worked perfectly.
