I have one, and I really like it.
Yes, it attaches to the seatpost in a similar way to the second product
you mention.
The picture from Wiggle is missing a metal frame, which the bag hangs on.
The frame snaps onto the seatpost Q/R, and the two sidepockets of the bag
velcro over it. You can see the two poppers at the rear which go over the
frame also.

The side pockets can take a windproof top, or a wooly hat plus two cone
spanners.

I guess you wouldn't want a non QR bag for commuting, but here's a
recommendation for a useful bag anyway:

- Buckle/velcro straps (saves weight and expense). Will be a bit wide
at the front for some riding positions/saddles but there are ways of
bodging it back. The one I got was very dark green in colour, not the
light grey pictured, nor does it look quite so massive and stiff in real
life, although it is large! Zip tags are rubbish but easily replaced.

John, is it possible that you could give me the dimensions? In
particular, the measurements when it is NOT expanded?

Would you say it is durable, will it stand up to daily commuting?

At the front end, 3" wide, 5" high.
At the rear end, 6" high 6" wide
Overall length 10"
To give an idea of dimensions, you can put a fleece into the main pocket.

I like Altura gear, and I have a lot of it, e.g. Orkney panniers, gloves,
shorts.
I'm less sure about this standing up to daily commuting.
It is well constructed, high quality. The nylon is a bit lightweight for
commuting.

Think also of a Carradice SQR Tour or a saddlebag

How about something like the seat packs Rivendell offers?

Even if you can't find their brand locally, similar items are available from
other manufacturers. (SQR, Berthoud, Carradice, Brooks...)

Many attach to the slots on the back of a saddle, others go on handlebars.

While I've got a set of racks on my bike, I also like an extra
saddle-mounted bag for odds and sods, digital cam etc.
