I have been having big problems getting the Cycleops software to work on my desktop XP machine. A friend found this website that offers a free down load for 14 days. I downloaded the software and was able to get results in about 10 minutes that included a download from the Cycleopes computer.
The software is a little pricey $75 but worth it for the piece of mind.
BTW - This software will work with any power measuring computer (e.g..SRM).
I really recommend the use of the CyclingPeaks Software (CP). It is the most powerful software around and I have loved using it for just about two years now. You will enjoy it way more than any other software that comes with a powermeter.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have used it for a couple of days now and I can agree with you. I am going to print out the User Guide and that will help even more.
Does anyone know of a reliable(one that works for this application) serial to USB converter that I can use to interface between the PT craddle and my motherboard which doesn't have a serial port? I'd like to try the cycling peaks software, thus the question. I realize this is a technical question regarding hardware, but I feel this forum is the best place to start. I'm aware there are several companies offering the converters but I'm not sure which one, if any, will work.
I don't know where you live but I would find a store (e.g. Best Buy) where if the USB to Serial converter didn't work you could return it.
The second suggestion is to take your computer and the PT interface to a computer shop and have them hook it up and test it for you. You would have to have the software installed before taking it there. I would not depend on PowerTap Link or Link Lite. Neither one of them worked on my computer with XP installed. You can download the Cycling Peaks software for a 14 day free trial. I didn't have any problems with this software. This option would be more expensive but when you left the shop you know that the PT interface is working.

I'll buy it there and try it out, if it doesn't work I can just return it and try another brand from another store. I was hoping to avoid all this running around but cycleops hasn't been helpful at all. Thanks again.
