Good Point. A company selling scroll saws makes these for saw blades
and would be easily adaptable.

Bad Point. I can't remember who they are - not Hegner.

and would be easily adaptable.

I bought one of these cases of e-bay.They have a Velcro strap on the back to
enanble fixing to the bars,removes easily and you also have a GPS case to
boot.

Works well.

Which GPS?

The Garmin mount for the etrex clips on and off in about 2 seconds,
the back of the GPS that covers the battery compartment has a special
bike version, and is a lot smaller and less noticeable than what you
have. It's about 15 quid in maplins, or a tenner online I'm sure.

Thanks for all the replies so far. It's opened my eyes to some different
holders.

My cycle today involved me carrying it in my left hand off road for a while,
and my home made solution has proven a bit rubbish.

I really want to connect my GPS to the centre stem as my handlebars are
fairly full with lights, clock and hands. I very much like the idea of
velcro to swap between my bikes.

I have a magellan GPS 315, but would consider changing for an alternate
model. (The GPS 315 is borrowed, so buying that 2nd hand or getting a
different one is the next step).

It has to be said that GPS has revolutionised my cycling in a "I just set
waypoints and now follow any road that gets me there". Around London that is
a great way of seeing places.

I had one of those too. To prevent the batteries from losing contact
(turning the GPS off at every bump) I had to wrap the batteries in
cellotape, making the lid too tight and bending the rolled pin locking
the lid. Duct tape to the rescue again. Then the screen went on the
blink, just like the Garmin 12map did earlier. According to the specs
they should be waterproof to some mil.standard and capable of
withstanding several Gs but bad roads, high-pressure tyres and the
occasional deluge proved too much. My next one will get an extra
waterproof cover and a flexible mount (and/or a suspended carrier
vehicle.

That looks pretty good, and they have a GPS 315 specific one. Their UK
distributor doesn't list this one, however. And also charges nearly £50 for
a mount. 🙁
